One-on-one family peer support
Friendly, non-judgmental conversation with a family peer supporter who understands — for any family navigating their experience with a family member or friend who has a mental illness or addiction.
A program of the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan
“Family peer support is peer support specifically for people who are supporting a loved one through mental health, substance use, neurodiversity, or other life challenges. Family Peer Supporters have lived experience as parents, partners, siblings, or caregivers. We understand the unique emotional landscape of loving someone who is struggling — the fear, the hope, the frustration, the advocacy, the exhaustion, and the fierce love.”
“Family is who you choose; it is defined by commitment and love.”
What is family peer support?
We offer direct family peer support for individuals who are supporting family members with mental illness or addiction. Our family peer supporters have experienced mental illness firsthand and have also navigated supporting their families in times of need.
Peer support is driven by friendly, supportive conversation that is non-judgmental and geared towards caregivers and families specifically. We also offer resource navigation where applicable.
